AL Gore new speech on Climate
Have you read Al Gore latest speech on 18th July 2008? His urge for everyone to move Quickly and Boldly to commit to switch to 100% renewable energy!
” The leading experts predict that we have less than 10 years to make dramatic changes in our global warming pollution lest we lose our ability to ever recover from this environmental crisis. ….And as the Demands for renewable energy GROWS, the Costs will continue to FALL….
Today I challenge our nation to commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.
This goal is achievable, affordable and transformative. It represents a challenge to all Americans - in every walk of life: to our political leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, engineers, and to every citizen. By Al Gore, the former VP of United States and the author of The Inconvenient Truth. ”

Although he is calling out to his fellow Americans, but it is as relevant to all of us as it is for them. Although there are more Organic shops and Organic products popping out and More Environmental messages advertising everywhere, but what are we as individual doing to make changes to our lifestyle? Or are we complacent?
Or are we demanding our auto suppliers to import plug-in electric cars? An electric vehicle fleet would sharply reduce the cost of driving a car, reduce pollution, and increase the flexibility of our electricity grid. - as suggested by al Gore’s research.
I am very proud to find out this trip home, that MRT ( Mass Rapid Transport) system in Singapore is actually environmentally Friendly. It’s fast, efficient, convenience, affordable and best of all no fuel consumption - no carbon emission!! Well, now Singaporean has more reason to cut back on driving and take the MRT! Especially when the petrol prices are on the rise!
Are we interested to find out how and what to do to make positive impact to our environment? Or it’s simply not my problem?!
What are you doing recently to take the bold steps? Knowledge is power, and sharing is even more powerful!
